Beats Portal is currently open for curators only. We are onboarding playlists before opening submissions to producers.
General
What is Beats Portal?
Beats Portal is a submission platform built exclusively for electronic music. Producers submit Spotify tracks to verified playlist curators. Curators review submissions and decide independently what gets added to their playlists.
Who is it for?
Electronic music producers who want to reach the right Spotify playlists, and electronic music playlist curators who want to receive genre-relevant submissions.
Do I need a Spotify account?
Yes. Both producers and curators must connect via Spotify. Producers need a Spotify account to submit tracks. Curators need a Spotify account to verify playlist ownership.
Does Beats Portal work with genres outside of electronic music?
No. The platform is built exclusively for electronic music. Playlists and submissions outside this scope are not accepted.
Submissions
How do I submit a track?
Browse the playlist library, find a playlist that matches your genre, and paste your Spotify track link into the submission form. You must accept the gating condition before submitting.
Can I submit any track on Spotify?
You can submit any publicly available track on Spotify. The track does not need to be your own, but submitting tracks you have no relationship to is against platform rules.
How many submissions can I make?
Free accounts get 10 submissions per week. Pro accounts get unlimited submissions. The weekly limit resets every Monday.
Can I submit the same track to multiple playlists?
Yes. You can submit the same track to multiple playlists as long as each playlist is a genuine genre match.
How long does it take to get a response?
Response times vary by curator. Beats Portal does not control or guarantee how quickly curators review submissions. You can check the activity status of a playlist before submitting.
The Gated Follow Model
What is the gated follow model?
When you submit a track, you agree that if the curator accepts it and adds it to their playlist, you will automatically follow that playlist on Spotify. If your track is rejected, no follow happens.
What if I don't want to follow the playlist?
Accepting the gate is a condition of submission. If you do not wish to follow the playlist upon acceptance, do not submit to it.
Can I unfollow the playlist after my track is accepted?
Yes. The follow happens automatically via Spotify at the moment of acceptance. What you do afterwards on Spotify is your own decision.
Curators
Is it free for curators?
Yes. Curators use Beats Portal for free. There are no curator subscription tiers.
Do curators have to review every submission?
No. Curators have no obligation to review submissions. All decisions are made independently and at their own discretion.
What happens if a curator goes inactive?
Playlists with no review activity over an extended period are deprioritised in search results. If inactivity continues, the playlist may be hidden from the platform until the curator returns and reviews submissions.
Playlists
How do I get my playlist listed?
Connect your Spotify account, submit your playlist with accurate genre and subgenre tags, and wait for manual review. Not all playlists are approved. Mixed genre, inactive, or incorrectly tagged playlists are rejected.
My playlist has less than 50 followers. Can I still list it?
To list a playlist on Beats Portal, your playlist must have at least 50 real followers and must be owned by you. We verify playlist ownership through Spotify Auth to ensure that only real playlist owners can submit playlists to the platform. Playlists that do not meet the minimum follower requirement may not be approved at this time.
Can I edit my playlist after it's listed?
You can update genre tags and playlist details via your dashboard. Track additions happen via Beats Portal on acceptance. All other edits — track removal, playlist name, cover art — must be done directly in Spotify.
Can I remove my playlist from Beats Portal?
Yes. You can remove your playlists from the platform at any time via your dashboard. This does not affect your Spotify playlist.
Pro Subscription
What does Pro include?
Pro gives you unlimited submissions and priority placement in curator queues. Your submissions appear above free-tier submissions when a curator reviews their inbox.
Does Pro improve my chances of acceptance?
No. Pro improves your visibility in the curator's queue. It does not influence the curator's decision. Acceptance depends entirely on the music.
How do I cancel?
You can cancel your Pro subscription at any time from your account settings. Your Pro access continues until the end of the current billing period.
Are there refunds?
No. All payments are non-refundable.
Platform Rules
What is not allowed on Beats Portal?
Submitting tracks to playlists with no genre relevance, using bots or automation, creating fake accounts, submitting tracks you have no connection to, and any attempt to manipulate curator decisions or platform data.
What happens if I break the rules?
Your account may be suspended or permanently banned without notice or refund.
Technical
Does Beats Portal host or store music?
No. Beats Portal does not host, store, or distribute music. All tracks are submitted and previewed via Spotify links. We have no access to audio files.
What happens if Spotify's API changes?
Beats Portal depends on Spotify's API for playlist verification, track submission, and the gated follow system. In the event of Spotify API changes, some features may be temporarily affected.
Why can't I submit a track?
Check that your Spotify account is connected, the track is publicly available on Spotify, and you have not exceeded your weekly submission limit. If the problem persists, contact support.
